We have begun our 2nd trimester! We begin and finish a new novel before Winter Break. Nothing But The Truth, by Avi, takes place in a high school, with a 9th grade boy as the protagonist. It covers issues of free speech and perspective. Students will continue to apply their 8.1 analysis scale to the novel, as we discover what ramifications free speech may have on the entire community. This will culminate into a final essay due prior to break.
Students have Roots 1-6 Exam tomorrow, and they should study them a few minutes each evening. They will have Roots 7 next week, so should study those words after Tuesday’s quiz. They should be able to show you their notecards to study from, and if not, they should make them. They were given classtime to do this. Roots quizzes and exams will take place each Tuesday.
Students who have not received 100% will continue to study the U.S. map and will be tested each Thursday. Their quizzes have been sent to their Camas email, so they may see what they missed and what to study more. Any student with a consistent 100% will no longer be required to take the quizzes.
